Hellfire and damnation!
Junius
I'm in a downright irritable mood today. It's my first day back at uni and I have made the unfortunate discovery that someone has presumably hacked my hotmail account. Blasted computer keeps telling me I have the wrong password and whoever the nasty culprit is has changed my security questions and things so that I can't even prove my identity and access my emails through the "back door".

GRR!

If anyone out there could help me or offer advice in any form, I would be enormously grateful. Have opened up a new email account but all my addresses and things are lost if I can't access my original account at least once more.

This reminds me of the time someone sent me a computer virus by email because I dared to offer what I thought was constructive criticism of a story they had published online... I was not pleased!

Anyone else had terrible technological experiences? Or do the computer demons choose to torture me specifically?

Mood - Not happy, Jan.
Music - Soft buzzing of the uni computer labs.
Edited - Never

Having given up on hotmail's increasingly ignoratn views on security, I just don't bother with them anymore, and most times I drop anything that comes from a hotmail address.

Try gmail instead.  If you can't sign up directly, I have a half a dozen invites to use up

It doesn't help with your address books and stuff, but it's a whole lot more secure than hotmail can ever hope to be.

Thanks, zaphod, have had a few gmail reccommendations. I'm just really annoyed that the addresses and emails I had stored up are, presumably, lost to cyberspace now

That's rough, junius.i will ask my ex-husband about the hotmail thing-because the same thing happened with his-someone changing things and stuffing it up.I will find out if he ever sorted it out-it would be so good if you were able to access your addresses as you need to do.Something i've started doing is writing them down in a notebook as well as a safety precaution, which probably sounds rather fuddy duddy and a.r ,but just trying to be helpful(albeit after the horse has bolted!) .

hi again junius, what he did was -as you did-to set up another hotmail account and then he emailed them and they did end up sorting it out for him-so they must have believed he was who he said he was-if that makes sense.Email them the equivalent of a begging letter-and keep doing it until you get your addresses back.So there is hope!

Ooh, I've been absent for a while and look what's happened! So much exciting news waiting for me!

Janice - thanks for being numero C for me - you're tops!

daftbird - thanks for checking out the book and hotmail situation for me. Am currently in negotiations with hotmail to get my account back, but they're a toughnut to crack. And I'll keep my eyes open for that book. I don't actually have an ebay account, but my friends do. They love me, they'll do me a favour!
