No doubt about it, Bill is my fave. A class-straddling 'stirrer', whom Tim and Graeme admit they needed to enliven the previously rather cosy Broaden Your Mind and then to complete the perfect trio for The Goodies. He definitely spices things up wherever he goes with the sheer energy of his performances, his wit, intelligence, bolshiness, complexity, visual skill and wonderful musicality.
Favourite tracks just off the top of my head: Stop It I Like It, The Old Boutique, Rhubarb Tart Blues, Sunny Morning, Maybe, Dumb Animals, Julie Andrews, She's Gone, Love Love, She Wouldn't Understand, Ride My Pony, Taking You Back, SuperSpike, Crazy Man - oh, I'll have to stop!
Actually met him in Jan19 at Slapstick when he signed my t-shirt and I touched him on the shoulder, SWOON!!! (Yes, I so would.) I don't have to take this kind of thing from you, you know! But I'm going to... |

' "Run" was my favourite. I loved Spiderbait's cover of it too! I wonder of Bill has heard it and what he thinks of it if he has heard it?
It was just so cool! |
It's definitely one of my favourites 'Go on...you know it makes sense!' |

It is hard to pick the best song, but it is easy to mention some good ones:
Stuff that gibbon Run Crazy man Make a daft noise for Christmas Ride my pony Rhubarb tart Ain't got no rythm Winter sportsman |

Agreed; picking the best Oddie song would be impossible. What's possibly the greatest thing about him (and there are many such things) is just how inspirational he is. Most people would dream of being an actor or a comedian or a singer/ songwriter/ popstar or one of the country's leading conservationists etc., but Bill has done all of them and more, whilst overcoming a huge amount in his personal life. Plus he's so, so funny. |
