* "It Was Alright in the 1970’s", a documentary with contributions from Bill Oddie, will be repeated on more4HD on Sunday, Feb 4th at 23:05 Program description: "In the final episode of the series, narrator Matt Lucas looks back once more at the 1970s. The theme this time is Living Dangerously, revealing more television to leave viewers wide-eyed and shaking their heads. In the world according to TV, the 1970s was a dangerous place where it was still perfectly legal for a husband to beat his wife, and a parent or teacher to beat a child. DJ and presenter Tony Blackburn climbed into a cage to sing to four fully-grown lions. On the Isle of Man, there was a feeling that if they banned the birch it would lead to moral ruin. Meanwhile, mainstream comedians were perfectly comfortable making jokes about domestic violence. Spike Milligan's comedy lived so dangerously, that even in the 70s his multi-racial sitcom The Melting Pot was considered too much and was pulled from the air. Responding to the clips are Tony Blackburn, Bill Oddie, Jennie Bond, Samira Ahmed and Elis James."

Here is a description of the show: "A true master of comedy shares a wealth of great stories and anecdotes from his career on stage, screen and radio including of course “The Goodies†and “I’m Sorry I Haven’t a Clueâ€. There are plenty of surprises too. Tim relates how he directed Orson Welles in a feature film, shot a memorable round of golf with Sevvy Ballesteros, persuaded David Frost to employ Marty Feldman and played a key role in Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. We’ll hear stories about John Cleese, Richard Wilson, Graeme Garden, Bill Oddie and many more. With luck Tim may just be persuaded to reveal the truth about Samantha and the rules of Mornington Crescent. Add to all this warmth and good humour plenty of clips of great moments from Tim’s TV and film appearances and you’re sure of a memorable evening of fun and laughter."

Update to The Goodies: Buster Keaton Classics & Rarities
In a slight change to this event, the brilliant Tim Brooke-Taylor will be joining virtually (onscreen) Bill Oddie and Graeme Garden (rather than in person). The celebrity trio will celebrate and illustrate their love of the comedy master Buster Keaton.
This will be a fantastic presentation of three of Buster's finest and funniest silent comedy shorts!
Not forgetting, there will also be live musical accompaniment from multi-instrumentalist Stephen Horne

Here, they share their mutual passion for “The Great Stone Face†by presenting three of Buster’s finest and funniest silent comedy shorts, including Buster’s mini masterpieces The Play House (1921), The Boat (1921) and The Electric House (1922), which will be screened along with rare archival clips and surprises from collectors & libraries around the world.
With live musical accompaniment from multi-instrumentalist Stephen Horne.

All three Goodies are to return to Bristol for the annual Slapstick Festival in January 2018.
The Slapstick Festival runs from 25th to 28th January. With 23 exciting events packed into four days across four venues.
There are two super Goodies events in which the chaps will be taking part.
The first one…
‘Buster Keaton Classics & Rarities

Tim Brooke-Taylor, Bill Oddie & Graeme Garden, the much-loved comedy team behind The Goodies TV series (1969-1982), are all huge admirers of Buster Keaton. with Bill Oddie

The much-loved television comedy series The Goodies drew tens of millions of fans each week in 1974-75. An exceptional feature of the show, however, was Bill Oddie’s series of extraordinary musical compositions, which exploded into the mainstream pop charts, while songs such as ‘The Inbetweeners ‘and ‘Funky Gibbon’ became top selling chart hits.  Tim, Bill and Graeme found themselves appearing on Top of The Pops alongside the top musical acts of the time.
Bill Oddie in conversation with author and comedy historian Robert Ross talks candidly about his work writing songs for the long running TV series, their chart successes, and what it was like being bona fide pop star in the 70s.’

It is worth noting that if you are planning to attend all events at the festival. You can obtain a Slapstick Pass.
There are two options for the 2018 Slapstick Festival.
1. ‘The Silent Comedy Pass will grant holders access to all 12 silent comedy events at Watershed and Arnolfini and at only £72.00 is great value for money.’
2. ‘The Slapstick Full Pass, on the other hand, includes tickets to all events held at Watershed and Arnolfini PLUS all remaining tickets from the Friday night gala at Colston Hall to the final event on Sunday evening at Bristol Old Vic (23 events) and is also a bargain at just £220.00.’
