Today I began the process of moving into my new rental house. I should state that while the house is @ 50 years old it has only just become a rental house and I am the first tennant. The previous occupant was obviously elderly as there are grab handles at the front and back doors plus grip strips across the front landing. Strangely there are no grab handles in the shower or the bath, so I dont know what to make of that. I would have thought that if you were going to put handles up then putting them in the bathroom would also be a priority. Then again what would I know as I have only been working in the building trade for 20 years. Personally I reckon that every bath and shower should be equiped with handles anyway to prevent falls and burns caused by slips and other events whilst in the bathroom. Think about it, anywhere else where you had a combination of water and slippery surfaces, not to mention hot water and electricity, and you would have to take all sorts of safety precautions. But for some reason if it is in a bathroom then it does not seem to matter except for very old or frail people. Go figure that one out and give me some of your thoughts as feedback.
