Don't want to sound weird but I prefer beary Bill to dodgy moustache Bill. If I was a lady I'd probably go for the beard!

How come here on the thread dedicated to the 'scruffy little anarchist' we're getting all philosophical and talking about role models and things, while over on the Grae strand they're just drooling over his bum?
Anyway, Gill, you know the phrase - "Take me to your ladder"? |

The problem with Bill is that he'd have to stand on a box to reach me..... |

I am not a fan of nature programmes in general - they just aren't my bag baby (sorry, went all Austin Powers then!!), although I love nature I get really bored watching programmes about it, however I often find myself watching the ones presented by Bill as he makes them engaging & interesting in a way that no other presenter can. Oh God, the music - that's a whole other thread in itself. Maybe even a whole other forum.
By the way, just realised my comment about the wildlife stuff sounded a bit snarky - it really wasn't meant to come out that way. I only met Bill in wildlife mode properly last night, he was different from what I was expecting. I was sort of telling myself 'prepare to be disappointed, don't build it up too much' but he was much better and more confident than I expected. Love that his voicers are done in the field (complete with huffing and puffing as he goes up hills) rather than being tarted-up in a booth afterwards. It was a strange 'it's him but its not him' feeling, particularly the bits where he was being 'himself' rather than trying to perform or be funny. |

You hit the nail on the head there (apart from the Tim part) for me. He was a kind of role model - not the greatest for parents hoping their child would follow the rules, etc - but an awesome role model none the less. He had attitude, he had charisma, and most of all, he was a lovable little ball of hair. He was also (really) the only fashion conscious of the lot and obviously didn't care much about what people thought of him. That and the music, can't go past the music. |

Oh, thank goodness someone round here has the combination of guts and weirdness to do what needs to be done. Not_a_Meg, if we're ever in the same hemisphere, I'll buy you a drink
When I was a lot younger, Tim was the Goody I wanted to marry, but Bill was the Goody I wanted to be. (And I ended up nearly marrying a guy called Graeme, just to cover all bases ) I loved his Goodies persona's cheekiness and two-fingers-up-to-the-lot-of-you attitude. In season one, a combination of no beard and being slightly plump makes him so utterly adorable I just want to give him a big cuddle. Then he got a bit older, a bit trimmer and a bit edgier... and then he turned into this guy who does the wildlife stuff. |

Come on then all you Bill fans - I've seen you all whinging on the Tim thread about no We Love Bill Topic!
I am not afraid! I will start the thread!!!
I may not be a Bill fan per se, but still. It's not right to leave anyone out, least of all short furry drummer types who are grand masters in Ecky Thump.
For some reason I've had a really lovely dream about Bill every night this week. Thankfully none of them have been rude. Is there any meaning to be read into this?!?!?!
Anyway, strange aside over. What IS it that makes Billy William float your boat?!
I'm sure the rest of us would be intrigued to know. You never know, there may be an entire re-education programme we can go through on this subject... ____________________________________ GRAEME: Will you be coming back tomorrow? SPEV: We might think about it...! GRAEME: See you tomorrow then!
I'm a Very Tasty Girl - Tim said so!! |
