Does anyone know anyone who's like a cartoon character in real life?
I'd be fascinated to know!

PS Frank Spencer, like the Goodies was never supposed to be a "real" person. They're all closer to cartoon characters with exaggerated personalities.
Erm, that's not quite true as FS was based almost entirely by the writer on HIMSELF.

I have a plan to update Sorry using Mike Leigh type direction and have him stealing from his Mum's purse and selling the hoover to buy smack.

Personally I would rather watch Frank Spencer than a single episode of Keeping up Appearances or any other 'safe' comedy sitcom.
Funnily enough I always had a soft spot for 'Sorry'. It was crap but I used to like the end credits (or was it the opening credits) where a large ball hits and rotates a picture of Ronnie Corbetts face!!
I always wished I could recreate that with a real ball and the real Ronnie Corbett !

Re "Some Mothers Do 'Ave 'Em"
Mrs Mary Whitehouse (may she rest in peace) complained that Frank Spencer was too sexually orientated because he clutched his thigh in moments of stress.
Recently watching a Goodies video, I've spotted Tim doing the same.......

But then again, as a child I used to find "Tom and Jerry" cartoons upsetting.
You can't help some people!

I think we all should be aware of people's feelings etc but there is a certain madness to P.C. I worked wi th the homeless for two years and all my collegues and myself had the blackest sense of humour, but there was no way we express it to anyone but eachother. But Loads of old programmes are rubbish regardless of P.C. rules or not. We have progressed massivily so why would we find the basic humour of Some Mothers Do Ave Em funny and it offensive, in basic terms a Camp Spazz, ha bloody ha

and as for Bagpuss .... he can't help being a saggy old cloth cat!
What about poor old Mr Benn. So what if he likes going down back alleys to strange shops for men and dressing up... don't we all!
Why can't people accept TV programmes and characters for what they are.
If these liberal minded do gooders don't like it why don't they just switch off their television sets and go out and do something less boring instead..... like fishing and bird watching.

Lets all gang up on Jane Root! I think Some Mothers Do Ave Em is offensive and alot of my homosexual friends think Are You Being Served is offensive and don't get me started on Allo Allo.
Ironic it ain't, On a lighter note did anyone see the League of Gentlemen's new series. Now that's what I call Television!
