If you want to wait until the broadcast of Bill's episode of "Celebrity Cash in the Attic" to find out how much the lots of Goodies items sold for, don't read any further. . . . The following article appeared in Hemel Today, at http://www.hemeltoday.co.uk/tring-news/Goodies-go-under-the-hammer.6530803.jp
Goodies go under the hammer
Published Date: 19 September 2010 By Unknown
Items from The Goodies went to bidders from across the world at an auction hosted by show creator Bill Oddie.
The star was at Tring Market Auctions on Saturday to flog some of his memorabilia as part of BBC show Cash in the Celebrity Attic.
Joined by presenter Angela Rippon and antiques expert John Cameron, he raked in around £1,350 for the International Primate Protection League.
The most expensive item - a shooting script from The Goodies and The Beanstalk and VHS tape of the first episode - went under the hammer for £550 to a pre-sale bid from a fan association in Australia.
The Goodies vinyl records also were bought for £240, almost double the sale estimate, by an American bidder.
BBC spokesman Sally Kent said: "Our expert speculated it could have been down to the unique nature of one of the records.
"It contained a novelty song written by Bill before he joined The Goodies, concerning the 1966 World Cup, but it was never released."
She added: "We filmed at Tring a couple of times last year and were made to feel welcome, so we have been looking for an opportunity to return." |

That's the first script I've ever seen up for grabs in all my years of searching. What ballpark figure do you reckon it'll eventually fetch? 120-odd pounds? |

' From the auction dudes!
"We are happy to accept bids from overseas and can accommodate telephone bidding during the sale but on a limited number of lines. The whole catalogue for the sale will be on line from 4pm of the Thursday prior to the sale. We are able to arrange postage and packaging and use TNT or Post Office services unless you hold an account with an alternative courier in which case we will have the item packed and ready for collection." |

Thanks Lisa! I've emailed the auction house about whether: a) They take pre-sale bids from overseas. b) They can arrange postage.
As we'd like to get a script, we my need to ask a favour of someone in the UK to collect it and post it to us! |

The producers of BBC2's "Cash in the Celebrity Attic" (a show in which celebrities auction off their old possessions to raise money for charity) have passed along the following information:
"We will be filming with Bill Oddie of 'The Goodies' fame on the 11th September. Bill will be auctioning off 'Goodies' memorabilia for charity including vinyl's, original 'The Goodies' scripts and VHS original copies of 'The Goodies' series. The Auction will take place in Tring, England. I am sure Bill would be happy to sign any items bought through auction."
The link for the auction house is http://www.tringmarketauctions.co.uk/ The Auction will start at 9:30am on Saturday 11th September. |
