Subject:  Six Degrees of Tim Brooke-Taylor
20/03/2005 03:24 GMT

The 'Six Degrees' game is derived from the Small World Phenomenon. According to Wikipedia: "The small world phenomenon is the theory that everyone in the world can be reached through a short chain of social acquaintances. The concept gave rise to the famous phrase 'six degrees of separation' after a 1967 small world experiment by psychologist Stanley Milgram which found that two random US citizens were connected by an average of six acquaintances."

A popular pop-culture game has already been created, Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon - challenging the players to link any actor with Kevin Bacon in six or less steps. You are awarded points based on how many (or how few) steps you can count between Kevin and your chosen actor.

Now, because i'm incredibly bored on a muggy Sunday afternoon, i've created an adaptation of this game centering around Tim Brooke-Taylor. I think the easiest way we can play this online is if somebody nominates an actor (this person could be from film, theatre or television), and no matter how unlikely it is that this actor could be linked with Tim-berlina, your challenge is to make this work.

I'll post a couple of examples...

SHORT ROUND:

George Harrison was in "A Hard Day's Night" with John Junkin...
...who was in the radio show "Hello, Cheeky!" with Tim Brooke-Taylor!

I also found a link between Tim and the object of his desire, Olivia Newton-John!

LONG ROUND:

Olivia rocked in "Grease" with John Travolta...
...who starred in "Look Who's Talking" with Kirstie Alley...
...who was in "Village of the Damned" with Linda Kozlowski...
...who was in "Crocodile Dundee" with Paul Hogan...
...who appeared in "Paul Hogan's England" with Tim Brooke-Taylor!

So you see how it's played?

Have fun, kiddies!

I myself brought him in last week - drunk and disorderly. But when I sobered up, he'd gone. Sorry. (P.C. BENT)
