I'll bet that commentaries are definately going to be done, the very fact that Network have approached all 3 guys is testament to that.

Unfortunately the fact that not all the stories exist in their original broadcast form, the length of each season differing by quite a way, plus the talk of asking each Goodie for their fav ep leads me to the conclusion that the releases will be best ofs.



I'd love to see a complete set of course I would, but I feel it's asking an awful lot to see 13 episode box sets on the shelves of your local Woolies (hmm mention of that store that should cover both here and down under...possibly the US as well!), besides the release has to appeal to the general public and be affordable.  How about a special mail order only extended release?

Anyway, I really MUST add my thoughts on what I'd like to see on a Goodies DVD... For a start, I'd very much hope for some commentaries but I don't think we'd get them although it looks as if I may be proved wrong (whey-hey!)  I would certainly prefer there to be series by series releases because "best of" releases always tend to be disappointing - there's so much missing from them that you'd dearly love to see and the "best of" is always a matter of opinion.



Well, I'll keep my fingers crossed for SOMETHING anyway and hope we won't have TOO long a wait.

Ho hum, of course you all know about the stuff in my post cos unlike me you read your C&G immediately!!

Of current interest is the news that this won't be released for some time as Network intend to liase with The Goodies over episode choices and the inclusion of commentaries.



Hmm, I wonder if they can include rare bits and pieces....I've never seen the Englebert skits!



Anyway have a look at the Forum if you haven't already and keep an eye out for Goodies related posts, the last one I saw was dated Aug 22nd.

I recently started a discussion on the BBC's message board cult site,  saying whether or not The Goodies would see the light of day again.. 



This news if it bears fruit, is just excellent!!

we did notice this (committee members of GROK) and have been discussing it over the past few days on the comittee mailing list, hence this month's poll

I'm surprised no-one else here has noticed this (as it's been heavily discussed on a few archive TV forums in the last few weeks) but the UK company Network *have* acquired the license from the BBC to release The Goodies on DVD, and have confirmed that they're planning to get some released by the end of the year!



At the moment it seems likely to be a 2 disc "best of" set, but there's also the possibility of season by season releases at some point too.

They did a pretty good job of 3rd rock on DVD recently, and they re-mastered the Robin of Sherwood episodes (with extras and commentaries too) when they released them on DVD.
