Also, don't forget that the Young Ones also followed a similar theme.....

Is it just my imaginiation or is a pattern developing here?

Yes, I agree with you. I've thought about that before. A few Goodies gags pop up in Red Dwarf sometimes as well, such as getting shaving cream confused with deodorant. I wonder what Doug Naylor or Rob Grant wrote with Graeme Garden? Definately great comedy minds, The Goodies being my favourite and Red Dwarf in second place.

I often think that the characters in Red Dwarf follow Goody personalities. There's Lister, he ship's slob & hippie (Bill), Kryten; the ship's intelligence (Graeme) & Rimmer, the ship's resident patriotic, anal retentive but still lovable know it all (Tim)...what do you think? I did read once that Rob Grant (or was it Doug Naylor) who wrote Red Dwarf, did write for sometime with Graeme Garden.....mmmmm. Either a case of great minds think alike, or I am just under the spell of typical British sterotypes ...what do you reckon?

Has anyone seen the latest "Maynards Gums" advert?  I only hope Bill's been paid for the use of his song!  Still, at least someone remembers!

Are the "Lone Gunmen" of "X Files" fame based on Tim, Graeme and Bill?
