wow, I'll even say it backwards, wow.
This is quite an old thread, and the names of people in this thread brings back memories. Some of these have not logged in for a while, you can tell when they last logged in by clicking on the grey icon down bottom left in their profile.
Unfortunately, cannot help out with the audio recordings, hope you get what you are after.
Just found today (and listened to) Goodies Podcast #166 with you talking about Bill's music.

Dear Jess
I wonder if you or Alison Bean still have that audio recording of the Edinburgh Stuff What Dreams Are Made Of, please? Would particularly like to hear the songs. Thank you.
[Sally Wilton - of 'ODDIE ROCKS our world', Facebook] I don't have to take this kind of thing from you, you know! But I'm going to... |

What's David Hatach up to these days? Is he still the head of BBC 4? Why not kidnap him and send a ransom note to the BBC, demanding justice to all the frustrated Goodies fans! |

I did have a quick scan around for the internet for the Cambridge Circus episode of The Ed Sullivan Show, but to no avail. I seem to remember Andrew Pixely saying that getting the clip for 'Return of the Goodies' was quite a coup for the BBC, and it cost quite a bit to show just that tiny bit. It makes the outlook seem a bit bleak for us fans. I'll keep looking though, and if I ever find it, I'll be sure to tell you all.

Someone round here (JessPIx, I think?) was trying to track down the Ed Sullivan appearance... it does exist, and the BBC presumably has access to a copy, because clips were used in the Return Of... Christmas special.
Don't think they had any joy tracking down a fan-held copy, though. |

Andrew!! Where is that guy when you need him? Didn't Cambridge Circus go on the Ed Sullivan show once? There should be a video of that hiding somewhere...(probably in someone's junk collection ) |

I have an audio recording of the show when a private tape of it was made at one of the Edinburgh Fringe shows they did. I wasn't aware that they performed it for television, so I can't be of much use.
One person who might know is Andrew Pixley, who pops round here from time to time.

Hey Guys,
Granada television is currently in the early stages of research for a new show which is trying to track down some old Goodies-related archive.
We are particularly interested in the ‘lost’ television broadcast of the 1964 Footlights show. This show (‘Stuff What Dreams Are Made Of’) was broadcast on ITV on Sunday 27th September, 1964. It was written by Graeme Garden (among others) with songs by Bill Oddie (among others).
It is featured on the Footlights website here: http://www.footlights.org/past/1964
I wondered if any of you had ever heard any rumblings of this piece of film existing in any form – perhaps you’re aware of individuals with private collections that may include this gem. Any information you could give us on this would be great. Just drop me an email on the address below if you think you can help us track down this piece of Goodies-related goodness.
Many thanks for your time and support,
Chris christopher.chapman@granadamedia.com |
