Just got home.  Wonderful to see everyone.  Terrific event and really brilliant to see the guys having fun and on form.  Great clips (great quality too!) ... and some very welcome contextualisation from Chris S.  Many thanks to Chris Daniels and the Slapstick team for such a lovely afternoon.

All the best

Andrew

From 1970 to 1982, British television audiences roared regularly with delighted laughter at the zany and visually-inventive comedy shows and specials created by the madcap trio known as The Goodies. Slapstick is reuniting all three Goodies for a look-back at rarely-seen gems from their multiple award- winning output. Chris Serle is in the chair giving you a chance to put questions.

Co-presented with Bristol’s Festival of Ideas.

4. Slapstick Festival presents Silent Comedy Gala hosted by Dara O Briain

Slapstick Sunday - Bristol Old Vic
The programme for Slapstick 2013 is coming together beautifully now and I’m delighted to tell you that it will be unveiled in full on our website on Monday 26 November.

But you don’t need to wait until then to start buying tickets!

Today’s news is that booking has just opened for four unique events taking place in the Bristol Old Vic’s gloriously-restored theatre on Sunday 27 January – all detailed below, along with info on a special offer for everyone who wants to catch two or more of the events (or solve their Christmas gift-buying challenge in style).

In addition, seats for our ever-popular opening gala at Colston Hall on Friday 25 January are already on sale but be warned - they are being snapped up very quickly.

This isn’t surprising as the truly brilliant Dara O’Briain will be our host and its other attractions include live music, a UK premiere and a celebration of the genius of Harold Lloyd featuring a screening of Kid Brother (1927). To make sure you don’t miss out, please visit Colston Hall's website here.

As well the gala Colston Hall are also hosting a new addition to the festival, Instant Wit. This will serve as an amuse bouche to the gala as it's also on Friday evening at 6pm. Details for this (and tickets) can be found here.

We really hope that you’ll be tempted and will want to share the news by forwarding this message, liking / sharing our Slapstick Festival posts on Facebook and / or following @SlapstickFest on Twitter.

Meanwhile, please read on.......

Marcus Brigstocke's Top Comedy Moments  2.15pm Writer, comedian and satirist Marcus Brigstocke comes to Bristol Old Vic to share his favourite visual comedy clips at the event now established as one of Slapstick’s guaranteed highlights.
As well as explaining his screening choices, Marcus will also talk about the wider comedy influences which have helped to make him one of today’s sharpest and most popular comedy talents.

June Whitfield: Comedy Legend  5.30pm  Author, broadcaster, journalist and screenwriter Matthew Sweet steers a conversation with actor, icon and national treasure June Whitfield, picking out the most memorable stories from a career that has spanned six decades and that featured many of comedy’s most famous names.
Their chat will be illustrated with excerpts from June’s radio, film and tv classics including Tony Hancock’s The Blood Donor, Terry & June and Absolutely Fabulous.

Funny Ladies with Lucy Porter  8pm  To round-off the Slapstick 2013 programme, a deserved salute to some of our earliest screen comediennes hosted by the deliciously funny contemporary stand-up comic, actor and writer Lucy Porter – a favourite on shows such as Mock The Week and The Unbelievable Truth.

BILL ODDIE and his TOP COMEDY MOMENTS  Friday 23rd November. 7.30pm. Nailsea. Both Chris & Bill will be coming to Nailsea next week to take part in a fundraising event to make money for a great cause, Nailsea charity Wellspring Counselling (a Nailsea and district charity providing low-cost professional counselling to the local community).
Witty, candid and unconventional, Bill will be delighting everyone present with his top onscreen musical comedy moments from the last century. You can expect Laurel & Hardy and The Marx Brothers, but apart from that he is not giving anything away - and we don’t blame him! A fascinating insight into the comic influences of this well-loved comic performer.
The fun takes place on Friday 23rd November at 7.30pm at Nailsea School, Mizzymead Road, Nailsea BS48 2HW
